The Gaurav Award is a prestigious recognition platform that honors exceptional individuals for their outstanding contributions in various sectors. This initiative was started by the School Games and Activity Development Foundation (SGADF), with the goal of celebrating excellence in fields like sports, education, service, and cultural contributions. The award aims to highlight individuals who have shown remarkable talent, leadership, and dedication to their work, inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.

The Gaurav Award is a unique project of the SGADF, a foundation dedicated to fostering development and growth through education, sports, and activities. SGADF believes in empowering individuals and communities by providing platforms for young talent to shine and be recognized for their efforts. Through this award, SGADF seeks to promote the importance of excellence in different areas of life.

First Launched in 2020

The Gaurav Award was first organized in 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held virtually. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the virtual ceremony was a huge success, allowing the recognition of outstanding achievers across India, while keeping everyone safe. This new format allowed the award to reach a broader audience, bringing attention to the achievements of nominees from various parts of the country.

Since its first edition, the Gaurav Award has grown in stature and significance. It is now organized every four years, offering recognition to people who have made incredible contributions in different fields. The awards are held in six categories, each designed to celebrate specific forms of achievement. The categories include:

Khel Gaurav Award (Sports Excellence) Student Gaurav Award (Academic and Leadership Excellence) Guru Gaurav Award (Teaching and Educational Contributions) Gaurav Chakra Award (Exceptional Service and Valor) Hindustan Gaurav Award (Contributions to the Nation) Bal Gaurav Award (Recognition of Children under 10 years for their achievements) Every year, 200 individuals are nominated across these six categories. These nominees are selected based on their extraordinary contributions and excellence in their fields. Out of the 200 nominees, only 60 individuals are awarded the prestigious Gaurav Award each time.

Categories of the Gaurav Award

Khel Gaurav Award: This category is dedicated to individuals who have demonstrated excellence in sports. It honors athletes who have achieved exceptional results at the national and international levels, showcasing their hard work, commitment, and determination in their respective sports. The Khel Gaurav Award acknowledges sportspeople from a wide range of disciplines, including athletics, cricket, wrestling, boxing, and more.

Gaurav Chakra Award: The Gaurav Chakra Award is given to individuals who have shown exceptional courage, bravery, and service to society. Hindustan Gaurav Award: This award honors those who have made significant contributions to the development and progress of India. The Hindustan Gaurav Award celebrates individuals who have worked towards improving the nation in areas such as politics, social services, business, culture, and science. Bal Gaurav Award: This unique category is for children under the age of 10 years.
